Chief Manager (Reservoir), Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Ltd., Dehradun
January 2022 - Present
- Completed 4D Geo Mechanical Studies to understand the root cause & provide mitigation measures of sanding events in unconsolidated reservoirs of Cenozoic gas reservoir and to design hydrofracturing strategy in ultra-tight Mesozoic reservoirs.
- The sanding study brought out the reasons for the sand influx problem and provided end-to-end solutions right from the identification of suitable locales for drilling, well planning, selection of drilling & completion fluid, and proper well-completion jewelry to maximize well life by minimizing sand incursion.
Manager (Reservoir), Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Ltd., Dehradun
May 2019 – Dec 2021
- Successfully executed the project of Geological Process Modelling (GPM) Daman Formation to define the facies continuity, and prepare a high-definition facies model. The study has resulted in the identification of facies boundaries which were hitherto undetected through a conventional seismic-based approach. The output of the GPM project was integrated with GCM to prepare a high definition facies model. This model captures facies and hydrocarbon distribution with higher confidence and reduces uncertainty in development planning.
- Completed GCM project of three oil and gas-bearing fields of Western Offshore Basin, India. Formulated field development planning as a Multi-Disciplinary Team member in close association with Geologists, Geophysicists, Petrophysicists, Production, and Drilling Engineers.
Deputy Manager (Reservoir), Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Ltd., Dehradun
Jan 2018 – Apr 2019
- Completed S2S (Seismic to Simulation) study in one of the giant oil and gas-bearing highly karstified carbonate reservoirs and gas-bearing clastic reservoir of Western Offshore Basin, India. The study resulted in the identification of bypassed oil for infill drilling locations finalization and FDP preparation.
- Completed Geo-Cellular Models of major carbonate reservoirs in Western Offshore Basin, India, seismic guided reservoir characterization project, and GCM of gas-bearing clastic reservoirs of Tapti-Daman Sector, Western Offshore Basin, India.
Senior Reservoir Engineer, Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Ltd., Dehradun
Jul 2014 – Dec 2017
- Reformulated Material Balance Equation to deal with nonlinearity in the equation that can assist in preparing a robust development plan. Development of Geostatistical simulation algorithm using Fractals to capture the heterogeneity of stochastic reservoirs like delta systems, karstic carbonate systems, etc., for reservoir characterization in order to prepare a shared-earth model.
- Completed Reservoir characterization project of giant offshore carbonate reservoir integrating the output of three different reservoir characterization techniques, collectively known as Enhanced Reservoir Description (ERD). This process has produced continuous permeability, pore-throat radius, and discretized the rock classes as per the simulation input, and identified zones of perforation and stimulation that are the readily available options to increase oil production. This study has resulted in considerable oil gain.
- Formulated algorithm for Porosity Prediction in carbonates integrating Dynamic Effective Medium (DEM) and Self Consistent Approximation (SCA) theory and Probabilistic Flow based Rock Classification scheme where core data is limited. This algorithm was programmed in Python where it takes processed log as input and by iteration generates different types of porosity logs (e.g., Vuggy, Fracture, Reference, etc.), Rock Physics parameters & flow-based probabilistic rock types which can be validated either by PLT/Production/Pressure Transient Study/Well Test results. This code is very useful in identifying suitable perforation zones and weak portions in wells where a special completion strategy is required. This study was presented at the Annual SEG convention in Houston in 2017.
Senior Reservoir Engineer, Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Ltd., Mumbai
May 2013 – Jun 2014
- During this tenure in Mumbai, India, I was associated with the Mumbai High Asset team and as a part of MDT prepared and executed the FDP of a marginal oil field.
- Carried out sick-well analysis to improve the productivity of the field. This analysis revived nearly 32 wells that were either producing suboptimally or closed due to various reasons like completion problems, wellbore damage, etc. As a part of the Asset team, carried out monthly production planning and liaison job with different agencies.
- Executed the project of redistribution of water injection in Mumbai High Field to identify the pressure sinks, adjust the Voidage Replacement Ratio, and ultimately balance Cumulative Voidage Compensation.
Assistant Executive Engineer (Reservoir), Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Ltd., Agartala
Feb 2008 – Apr 2013
- As a part of the MDT of Tripura Asset, which was basically a gas producing asset, I was associated with the planning, execution, acquisition, and interpretation of the Pressure Transient Test. Supervised more than 300 detailed testing and interpretation of well-test data during the tenure of 5 years.
- Successfully carried out the project of pressure production analysis by integrating historically available PTA data, decline curve, and material balance analysis to optimize the reservoir health and maximize production by identifying the missed zones and future development locales.
